The Special Investigation Team (SIT) that was charged with probing the Unnao rape case has submitted its preliminary report in the matter to the Uttar Pradesh DGP.

Following the report's submission, Republic TV has ascertained that the SIT has held the rape-accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar's brother Atul Singh Sengar responsible for thrashing and brutally beating up the father of the victim who died shortly afterwards from his injuries. Further, the SIT has recommended a detailed investigation

Earlier on Wednesday, Republic TV had accessed a video testimony of the rape victim's father where he said explicitly that Atul Singh Sengar and his accomplices had thrashed him for supporting his daughter when she claimed that the BJP MLA and his associates had raped him.

The victim's uncle too had alleged that Kuldeep Singh Sengar had his brother killed and that Atul Singh Sengar was the one who had assaulted him.

A video accessed by Republic TV after the victim's father was thrashed had shown that despite him being clearly injured and being in a hospital, he wasn't administered any medical treatment. Instead, his fingerprints were recorded and he was taken to police custody. He succumbed to his injuries a short while later and the post-mortem revealed that he had sustained 14 injuries all across his body, particularly around his back and abdomen.

A phone conversation of the victim's uncle with the UP police had also shown that Atul Singh Sengar's name had been removed from his complaint at some point. When he pursued the matter, the policeman on the phone told him that the police also has its problems and that he should continue his fight.

The rape victim had on Sunday attempted to self-immolate in front of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath's residence in a desperate attempt to get justice.
