Shivakumar arrested after Chidambaram

Shivakumar has been arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The Enforcement Directorate which was questioning him since last four days said that he was not cooperating with the investigation hence it felt the need to arrest him for further probing. Shivakumar’s arrest in a money laundering case is the second high profile arrest of such nature of Congress leaders in the last few weeks after the arrest of former Union Minister P Chidambaram in the INX Media Case.

ED's case

The Enforcement Directorate had registered a case of money laundering in September 2018 against Shivakumar based on a charge sheet filed by the Income-tax department against him on alleged tax evasion and hawala transaction charges.
