OP Saini the specially appointed as the judge for the special CBI hearing of the 2G scam has finally set a date to announce the verdict for the case on 21st December at 10.30 am in the presence of all the accused.

The Patiala House court has been hearing the court on a day to day basis for the last 6 years at the request of the CBI which has produced trunks worth of evidence to the courts, in a case which is touted to be the biggest scam of Independent India.

According to the CBI arguments, the 2G scam helmed under the UPA regime, cost the exchequer a loss of 31 thousand crores.

The judge announced the date on 5th December and has asked all accused parties to be present for the hearing of the case. Due to the sheer volume of the evidence provided and examined, the judge had earlier postponed the date of the verdict from 25th September to 21st December.

Former Union Minister of telecom A Raja and DMK leader Kanimozhi have already served some jail time in Tihar jail in connection to the 2G scam

Reacting to the judge's announcement BJP leader Subramaniyam Swami remarked that it was a good sign that the verdict will be announced soon concluding the 6 year long hearings in the court. Asked as to what he expected from the verdict the leader responded,

"I expect my stand to be redeemed since I had filed a personal complaint in the case in 2011 itself. I hope that my stand is acquitted and the truth comes out in the front, leading to the conviction of the guilty parties.

But even if the accused are convicted they will in all likelihood proceed to challenge the verdict in a higher court of law.
