10-member PDP Delegation To Meet Mehbooba Mufti In Srinagar On Monday

Sources report that PDP delegation that was scheduled to visit Srinagar on Monday to meet party president Mehbooba Mufti has deferred their visit as several leaders have refused to visit citing personal reasons. This has been confirmed by Mufti's daughter.

Update at 5:30 PM

PDP General Secretary Ved Mahajan will be leading the PDP delegation to meet Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar on Monday, as per sources. The meeting is scheduled at 11 AM at SKICC, Srinagar. The delegation will reportedly be leaving by a 10.00 AM flight.

After a 15-member NC delegation met with party chief Farooq Abdullah at Srinagar on Sunday, a 10-member PDP delegation is set to meet party chief Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar on Monday. Earlier in the day, led by NC Jammu provincial president Devender Singh Rana, the delegation flew to Srinagar from Delhi for meeting with Farooq Abdullah at his residence in Srinagar. The delegation was granted permission to meet the leaders from J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik on Thursday evening. The met with Farooq and his son Omar Abdullah.

NC delegation meets Abdullahs

Farooq Abdullah's wife Molly also joined the meeting with the NC delegation, which consisted of senior leaders of the party including Hasnain Masoodi and Akbar Lone. Speaking to news agency ANI after meeting the Abdullahs, NC leader Devender Rana said that both the former J&K CMs - Farooq and Omar Abdullah - are well and in high spirits. He emphasised on the release of the Kashmir leaders, adding that both the leaders are pained by the developments in J&K. The delegation also apprised the leaders about developments after Article 370 abrogation.

Detained Kashmir leaders to be released

This development comes two days after Advisor to Jammu-Kashmir Governor, Farooq Khan had stated that detained leaders will be released from detention in a phased manner. He added that they will be released after individual analysis of each of them. Farooq Khan did not state when the leaders will be released from detention. Former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah are detained in government guest houses near the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar since August 5. Meanwhile, NC president Farooq Abdullah has been detained in his own residence. The leaders have been under detention since Parliament abrogated Article 370, ending Jammu-Kashmir's special status.
