AAP welcomes four-time Congress MLA Parlad Singh Sawhney in the party

Parlad Singh Sawhney, four-time Congress MLA recently joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on October 6 in the presence of Arvind Kejriwal, the CM of Delhi.

Parlad Singh Sawhney, four-time Congress MLA recently joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on October 6 in the presence of Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi. Sawhney stated that he is amazed by the work AAP has done in the state. He further added that wherever he goes across the country he learns of the developments of the work done by AAP. Sawhney who was a confidante of Sheila Dikshit, former Chief Minister of Delhi, stated that he has not joined the party to contest in the upcoming polls. Furthermore, he added that his aim is to work towards the development of Delhi. Sawhney was a member of the Legislative Assembly from Chandni Chowk from 1998 to 2015. He faced defeat by Alka Lamba, a candidate of the AAP in 2015.

Kejriwal welcomes Sawhney

Arvind Kejriwal welcoming Sawhney to the party stated that he is extremely happy to have the former Congress MLA in the team. He further spoke of AAP, stating that it started as a movement. Speaking of the work done by the party, the Delhi CM stated that they have done ‘revolutionary’ work ever since the party came to power. The Aam Aadmi Party which was formally launched on November 26, 2012, came into existence after differences ensued between Arvind Kejriwal and Anna Hazare. In 2015 Legislative Assembly Elections, AAP had won 67 of the 70 seats in the assembly.

"AAP started as a movement and there were times when after coming to power parties lost their vision but that is not the case with AAP. We have done revolutionary work since assuming office," The Delhi CM said in a statement.
