After Hyderabad, here's the latest city UP CM Yogi Adityanath wants to rename
UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday, announced another proposition to change the name of a city, this time in Telangana. While addressing a rally on Telangana, which will go to polls on December 7, he said that BJP will rename Karimnagar to Karipuram if voted to power.

Addressing an election rally in the poll-bound Telangana, Yogi said, "If BJP comes to power in Telangana then BJP will work for renaming Karimnagar into 'Karipuram' and respect your sentiments," he said.
Less than a week ago, Adityanath while addressing a rally in Goshamahal in Hyderabad had said that BJP would rename Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar, if voted there to power.
"If Hyderabad has to be transformed into 'Bhagyanagar' then I call upon you to support BJP to form the government (in Telangana)", he had said.

Telangana BJP leader T Raja Singh Lodh, who was an MLA in the dissolved Assembly, had on several occasions earlier said that BJP would aim to rename Hyderabad and other cities in the state after the names of great people, if elected to power.
In November, the Uttar Pradesh government had approved the renaming of Faizabad and Allahabad divisions as Ayodhya and Prayagraj respectively. They have also renamed the railway station Mughalsarai as Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction.

In August this year, the Uttar Pradesh government had sent a request to the Centre to rename the airports in Agra, Bareilly and Kanpur. As per reports, the government has sent a proposal to rename the Agra airport after Jan Sangh founder Deen Dayal Upadhyay.
BJP has justified the name changes across the state saying that they are merely restoring older names and correcting historical distortions.
The Gujarat government has also been seeking to rename the city of Ahmedabad to Karnavati.
