After the Enforcement Directorate told the Patiala High Court on Saturday that Christian Michel, who was extradited earlier in December, named 'Mrs Gandhi' during the interrogation, the Congress has aimed its guns on PM Narendra Modi.
RPN Singh, the spokesperson from the Congress, has said that PM Narendra Modi was 'pressuring the agencies to name a person in the case'. "As per law, the first thing a person gets is a lawyer... But they don't allow him to meet the lawyer, so you know what kind of a case is going on. We have seen what the BJP is doing here. Why does the Chowkidar against whom there is proof pressurize agencies to name a person? The person who has done the biggest chori cannot be spared."
In a major development in the AgustaWestland case, the Enforcement Directorate told the Patiala High Court that Christian Michel, named 'Mrs Gandhi during the interrogation. The agency also told the court that he tried to pass his lawyers a chit, but was stopped by them. They also said that Michel was being tutored 'from outside'. ED has also sought to ban Michel's lawyer's access to him over the incident.
Furthermore, during the hearing, ED also told the Patiala House Court that Christian Michel has identified how HAL(Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) was removed from the deal and the deal was offered to Tata instead.
The ED also said that they needed to decipher who the “big man” referred to as “R” is in the communication between Michel and other people.
The ED has received seven more days to question the middleman in the AgustaWestland case.
Michel is among the three alleged middlemen being probed in the case by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The others are Guido Haschke and Carlo Gerosa.
