Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday responded to the grand welcome given to the Bulandshahr riot accused who are also accused in the killing of Police official Subodh Singh were released on bail. He questioned the state of law and order in Uttar Pradesh. He alleged that there were encounters taking place in the state. "Here a police officer loses his life, and the accused got bail in the case were welcomed, is the law and order situation in UP? Akhilesh Yadav said. On December 3, 2018, inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was killed in mob violence after cattle carcasses were allegedly found near Mahaw village in Uttar Pradesh. lakhs of people had gathered in the village for a 'Tabligi Ijtema'. Bajrang Dal leader Yogesh Raj, the main accused in the killing of the policeman was arrested from Khurja on January 3 a few days after he had gone into hiding. On intervening to curb the mob, Singh had lost his life.
In a shocking incident in the state of Uttar Pradesh, riot-accused men received a hero's welcome after being released on bail. On Sunday, when they were released, the video clip from the location shows that amid chants of Vande Mataram and Jai Shri Ram, the accused were garlanded. The key accused Shikhar Agarwal and Jeetu Fauji can be seen being welcomed by their supporters amid cheers. The viral video also shows them garlanding the accused and taking turns to take photos and selfies with the accused. Shikhar Agarwal, a BJP Youth Wing leader and five others were granted bail by the chief judicial magistrate recently.
Reacting to the lack of sympathy to the victims, the slain police officer's wife- Rajni Singh has expressed her sorrow, while talking to Republic TV. She questioned how this riot-accused could be left out of jail. Expressing her dismay at the welcome they received she asked whether people have forgotten their humanity. She also alleged that the bail of such criminals would only embolden them.
