Giriraj Singh has been pulled up by BJP party chief Amit Shah over his remark against party allies Nitish Kumar, Ram Vilas Paswan and others over their attendance at an Iftar dinner.

As per sources, Shah has called up Giriraj Singh and implored him to apologise to Bihar CM and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar. Giriraj Singh, the Union Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries has also been told to not comment on alliance partners in such a manner. Giriraj's follow minister Ram Vilas Paswan was also present at the Iftar dinner, as was the deputy CM of Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi.

Earlier on Tuesday, Giriraj Singh had taken exception to a photo of some of the state's senior-most political faces attending an Iftar dinner. Commenting on the photos, the Begusarai MP wrote:

'How nice it would have been if they had observed Navratri also with such grandeur and posted beautiful pictures? Why do we lag behind in our karma and dharma but remain ahead in putting up facades?'

The development comes amid friction between the BJP and JD(U) which was sparked off by the former allegedly only offering to swear-in one JD(U) MP as a minister - a symbolic offering which was turned down by Nitish Kumar who sought a representation commensurate with the seats the party had won in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Following this, Nitish Kumar's former allies - RJD and HAM - who were decimated in the elections in Bihar, have made overtures to the JD(U) welcoming it back into the Mahagathbandhan fold to fight the BJP.
