Reliance Group chief Anil Ambani has issued a statement following the massive verdict in the Supreme Court dismissing the Opposition and Lobby's petitions seeking a court-monitored probe into the Rafale deal:

Ambani, who has faced relentless allegations from Congress president Rahul Gandhi, has said the following:

"I welcome the judgment of the Honourable Supreme Court today summarily dismissing all PILs filed on the Rafale contracts, and conclusively establishing the complete falsity of the wild, baseless and politically motivated allegations levelled against Reliance Group and me personally. We remain committed to India's national security and to making our humble contribution towards the Make in India and Skill India policies of the Government in the critical area of defence including our offset partnership agreement with our valued partner, Dassault Aviation of France."

On Friday, the Supreme Court held that it was satisfied with the decision-making process in the Rafale deal and dismissed a batch of petitions seeking a probe. This came as a massive blow to the Congress which has insisted on alleging over the past few months that the deal entailed a scam, with Rahul Gandhi making repeated 'crony capitalism' claims regarding PM Modi and Anil Ambani over the latter's company being chosen by Rafale's maker Dassault Aviation to be an offset partner in the deal. Rahul Gandhi's allegations were essentially along the lines of "The Prime Minister gave Rs 30,000 crore to his friend Anil Ambani". No further detail was added.

The Reliance group has sent numerous defamation notices to the Congress and its leaders over the allegations.

The Supreme Court's verdict wasn't accepted by the Congress which has said that it would continue to campaign against the Modi government over the deal, with Jyotiraditya Scindia, Randeep Surjewala and Anand Sharma issuing statements to this effect. Prashant Bhushan, whose petition was dismissed, also hit out at the Supreme Court's verdict.
