Arun Jaitley to Rahul Gandhi after Dassault CEO's Rafale deal revelation: Falsehoods not a substitute for failure in political career

Following Dassault CEO Eric Trappier's interview shedding light on the nitty-gritties of the Rafale deal on Tuesday,  Finance Minister Arun Jaitley tweeted saying that Congress president Rahul Gandhi cannot substitute failure in politics with falsehoods. He also said that the Opposition is now resorting to petty hair-splitting after coming to know that the Centre bought the planes for a much cheaper deal.

Following Dassault CEO Eric Trappier's interview shedding light on the nitty-gritties of the Rafale deal on Tuesday, where he explained several prickling issues in the deal that was been brought forth by the Congress, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley tweeted saying that Congress president Rahul Gandhi cannot substitute failure in politics with falsehoods. He also said that the Opposition is now resorting to petty hair-splitting after coming to know that the Centre bought the planes for a much cheaper deal.

"Falsehood is not a substitute for Rahul Gandhi’s failed politics. Realising that the Modi government bought the Rafale at a price cheaper than what UPA was negotiating the disrupter’s are now resorting to petty hair-splitting. UPA delayed the Rafale purchase, much required for improving the combat ability of Indian Air force. Is Rahul Gandhi’s failed politics compelling him to render India’s sensitive defence requirements controversial?" he tweeted.

The BJP has taken the line of accusing Rahul Gandhi of peddling 'falsehoods' to save his 'failing career'.

BJP's spokesperson Sambit Patra also attacked Rahul Gandhi and said his 'false' claims now stand exposed. The lie of Rahul Gandhi has been caught yet again. He stands exposed. The politics of lies deceit and conspiracy forwarded by Congress and Rahul Gandhi is exposed. I remember the no-confidence motion in Parliament when he lied there about the Rafale deal, following which the French PM Hollande issued the letter claiming falsehood of Rahul Gandhi and he was thus exposed. Despite being exposed so many times, he shamelessly continues his lies

The Twitter handle of BJP also posted a tweet saying Gandhi has resorted to being a non-stop source of fake news owing to his 'failing career'.

"There are lies, damned lies and to top it all there is a #RaGaJhoothKiMachine, a non-stop 24/7 source of fake news, fake narratives, fake issues just to salvage a falling political career," it said.

Dassault CEO Eric Trappier on November 13 addressed every nagging issue the Congress had with respect to the Rafale deal in an interview to a news publication. He particularly addressed the issue of why Dassault was chosen instead of HAL and why the number of planes being bought were lowered from 126 to 36.

Congress has been up against arms over the Rafale deal controversy and have raised many issues including the choosing Anil Ambani's and Dassault over HAL and allegations of a quid-pro-quo between Dassault and Reliance
