Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya has triggered a massive controversy after saying that if the need arose and there was no route out, the Central government would go for the legislative route for construction of Ram Temple.
"When such a need arises that there is no way out except bringing a Bill, I am fully confident that in such a situation and when we have adequate strength (in both Houses of Parliament), remember these two things", said Maurya while speaking to the media on Sunday.
Later, while defending his statement, the UP Deputy CM said, “People have faith that Supreme Court’s judgment will come soon and it will remove the obstacles in the way of constructing Ram Temple.”
Maurya further said, “Either the judgment will come soon or we'll find a solution through dialogue. The third option of passing a law in the Parliament is also open.”
Following Maurya’s statement on the Ram Mandir issue, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi slammed him calling his statement “atrocious”
“A responsible Deputy Chief Minister of a state government is making such atrocious and obnoxious statement, when the Ayodhya matter is pending in the Supreme Court, he has no right to talk in this language,” said Owaisi.
The AIMIM chief also claimed that Maurya’s statement indicates reflects the frustration of the BJP and the RSS.
“This clearly indicates that the members of BJP and RSS are frustrated. They promised a lot over Ram Mandir but when they could not fulfill the promises, they became frustrated,” said Asaduddin Owaisi.
While dubbing the Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM’s statement as contempt of court, Owaisi said, “Now they are threatening us. This is contempt of court. You can’t make any legislation just like that. They (BJP) are misguiding everyone.”
While speaking to the media, Owaisi also took a swipe on PM Modi over Navjot Singh Sidhu-Pakistan Army Chief Bajwa hug row.
“Our beloved PM Modi also went to Pakistan to hug Pakistan Prime Minister to have biryani. He also hugged Pakistani Prime Minister,” said Owaisi, adding, “In Parliament also, he (PM Modi) hugged people. Hugging is the new fashion.”
