'Babri Demolition Was Our Job, Creating Mandir Was Yours': Shiv Sena Issues Ayodhya Ultimatum To Government

A day after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asserted the fact that only Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can build the Ram Mandir at its very place in Ayodhya, Shiv Sena has issued an ultimatum to the government, stating it is their responsibility to construct the temple in Ayodhya.

In a controversial statement regarding the matter which will be heard by Supreme Court from the first week of January, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, in an exclusive to Republic TV, said,

"Who says we have to wait? Mandir has to be constructed. There were protests during rallies of Yogi and Rajnath Singh, where people ordered them to build the Mandir before asking for votes. Yogi has said Mandir will me made. The government has to build the temple. We are not going to do it. BJP garnered votes on the pretext of building Ram Mandir. Now they are in power, so it is their responsibility."

When asked if people should vote for the court's order, something which RSS and BJP's high command have mentioned time and again, Raut stated that ordinance needs to brought.

"When will you have to wait for the court order, how long will you have to wait for it? We don't know. All we know is in the name of Ram, they got votes, so now they should bring in an ordinance. Court hearing is not going to determine the Ram Mandir case. It is a religious issue, whose proceedings should go according to the people, not the court. They (government) will have to take the action, or sit at home. Our job is to wake up the sleeping giants, which Udhhav Thackeray has already started. For 25 years, only votes have been garnered from this issue. We destroyed Babri 25 years ago, that was our historic act. Babri demolition was our job, Mandir creation is government's," the Shiv Sena MP added.

His comments were in relation to, and a day after, Yogi's statements on the Ram Mandir. The UP CM had stated that it will be his party, and they only will be the force behind construction of the temple on Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya.

"I remember, some people said that few people were talking about Ram Janmabhoomi, whoever will build the Ram Mandir, we will vote for them. I could only understand that whoever does this work, and whenever they'll do it, this work will only be done by us. Nobody else can do it," he said.
