In a big move by Modi Cabinet 2.0, reports have emerged that the Central Government, on Wednesday, has formed two new cabinet committees for- Investment and growth, Employment and skill development.
According to sources, the cabinet committee for Investment and growth will include PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister for Transport Nitin Gadkari, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal. While the cabinet committee on employment and skill development handling many ministries like labour and employment, housing and urban affairs will include Amit Shah, Union Minister of Rural Development Narendra Singh Tomar, Piyush Goyal, Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan. Both committees will reportedly be chaired by the Prime Minister.
As per sources, this decision was taken by the cabinet committee on security which is headed by PM Modi and includes Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Earlier on Monday, the current National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval had been reappointed and will continue in his position as the National Security Adviser (NSA) for the next five years, Furthermore, Doval has been elevated to cabinet rank in the Modi Cabinet 2.0 along with the extension, effective from May 31.
The official notice read:
"His appointment will be co-termius with the term of Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier."
The Modi Cabinet 2.0 had immediately swung into action a day after being sworn-in, by announcing the extension of PM-Kisan Yojana to all farmers, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Pension Yojna, a special scheme for Control of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis and Shramyogi Mandhan Yojna - pension for small traders and shopkeepers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath to office on May 30, along with 57 other ministers in the Cabinet. The Cabinet portfolios were announced on May 31, with BJP chief Amit Shah appointed as the Home Minister, along with Rajnath Singh being given the Defence Ministry in the Modi government 2.0. Nirmala Sitharaman has been assigned the Ministry of Finance in the second term.
