Days after Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu's portfolio was changed by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Sidhu met Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Ahmed Patel.

Taking to Twitter, he said that he handed over a letter to Rahul Gandhi apprising him of the situation. It is speculated that the letter is about the ongoing tussle in the Punjab Congress between Sidhu and Captain. He also shared a picture in which he is standing with Congress chief at his right and Priyanka Vadra at his left. Ahmed Patel is also seen in the picture.

On June 6, what may be called as a final nail in the strained relation of Captain and Sidhu in Punjab Congress, Sidhu skipped the cabinet review meeting chaired by CM Captain Amarinder Singh. Hours after skipping the meet, he took to Facebook to say that Punjab Congress has sidelined him and forgot his contribution. Following this, as per Republic Tv newsbreak, Navjot Singh Sidhu was removed from his current ministry - Local Government and Tourism and Cultural Affairs and was given the portfolios of the Power ministry and the New and Renewable Energy Sources ministry.

Sidhu has been at loggerheads with the Punjab Chief Minister after he denied Sidhu's wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu a ticket for the Lok Sabha elections. Accusing the SM of disrespecting women, she had called the Punjab chief minister 'Junior Captain'. He had stood by his wife attacking the CM in a veiled attack one day before the polls saying that 'a vote cannot be underestimated and it should be used to blast those who are colluding to backstab the Congress.

Retorting to Congress Leader Navjot Singh Sidhu's jibe on his wife's allegation of being denied a ticket, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday has said that Sidhu's comments, one day prior to the election, will affect the Party and not him.

While the Punjab CM and Sidhu go a long way back, Punjab Lok Sabha election campaign was marred by many controversial attacks by Sidhu against PM Modi, Smriti Irani and later against Captain Amarinder Singh himself.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will meet leaders of all the states where the party lost the Lok Sabha elections on June 10.
