Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday took a jibe at Nitin Gadkari over non-fulfillment of constructing roads in Bihar. While speaking at a Workshop of the Engineers in Patna, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar mounted a scathing attack on Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and said:

"Initially, he had promised to construct an elevated corridor of 20 km from Patna to the new Bihar Airport but now the Minister has expressed his inability to construct the elevated road. Now I will not wait for anyone. I will make the road from the State fund and not wait for the centre otherwise the people commuting to new airport will face traffic congestion. The central government is insensitive".

"I don't wait for anyone. I get the work done. Similarly, in 2005-2008, I inherited bad National Highway road of Bihar. I did not get any grant then and instead used the state fund of Rs 970 crore to construct the road. Till date, Bihar hasn't got the money back. In every meeting, we demand the money. In UPA also they used to smile and in NDA government also they smile with an assurance. But I keep doing my work. When I speak to the minister he gives assurance but his officers create a bottleneck", he added.

When the Bihar CM was mounting his all-out attacking towards the central government, several  BJP leaders and Bihar's Deputy CM Sushil Modi were present on the dias. On 15 June, Nitin Gadkari had said that road projects worth 2 lakh crore are pending in Bihar because the state government had failed to acquire the land.

The very next day Nitish government issued a release with a point by point rebuttal to Gadkari. On 20th July, RJD MP Jaiprakash Yadav raised questions in Lok Sabha regarding pending road projects in Bihar to which Nitin Gadkari asked him to inquire about the same from district magistrate. The seat-sharing between JDU and BJP for Lok Sabha has not been sealed and this jibe from Nitish does not augur well for the alliance in the run of 2019 Lok Sabha elections .
