BJP calls for Jammu and Kashmir core group meeting on Tuesday, PM Modi likely to attend

The BJP has called for a meeting of the party's top leaders from Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday in Delhi, ahead of the crucial assembly elections in the state.

The BJP has called for a meeting of the party's top leaders from Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday in Delhi, ahead of the crucial assembly elections in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah are also likely to attend the meeting of J&K core group. The meeting is reportedly being held to discuss the political atmosphere in the state and also the party's preparedness for assembly elections which are likely to take place by the end of the year. 

BJP general secretary Ram Madhav, who is BJP's pointsman in the state, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, state party chief Ravinder Raina, former Deputy Chief Ministers Kavinder Gupta and Nirmal Singh, J&K BJP General Secretary Ashok Kaul and other senior leaders are set to attend the meeting in the presence of party's national working president JP Nadda.

The saffron is gearing up for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, with the Election Commission to finalise the dates of the polls soon. Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir is under President's rule till the time elections are held in the state. It was extended for one more term of six months beginning July 3. In the last state elections, Jammu & Kashmir witnessed the polls in the month of November-December.

Earlier in June, during his two-day visit to the state, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah held a review meeting and took a detailed report of various development schemes and projects. The Governor Satya Pal Malik, Union Home Secretary, all the four Advisors, Chief Secretary and Senior officials of the State and Central Government were present in the meeting. He had also held a security review meeting with regards to the Amarnath Yatra in the state.

Meanwhile, the Centre has deployed additional forces in the state of Jammu and Kashmir to deal with anti-national elements.
