The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday came down heavily upon Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu’s Islamabad visit for Imran Khan’s swearing-in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. BJP national spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra slammed the Congress party for Sidhu’s visit, saying the party “has done a sin”.

“Sidhu was there in Pakistan. We have seen him hugging with Bajwa (Pakistan Army Chief) and sitting next to Masood Khan (PoK leader). This is not normal because Sidhu is not a normal man, he is a representative and from the Congress party,” said Dr. Patra.

The BJP leader also claimed that as per the protocol he was not supposed to sit next to Masood Khan, but it was arranged later, adding, “why didn’t he say no?”

“This is a very serious issue. He must have objected it,” said Dr. Sambit Patra.

The BJP national spokesperson has also demanded Rahul Gandhi to suspend Sidhu from the party, saying:

“We demand Rahul Gandhi to do a press briefing and answer that had he granted the permission? Are you (Rahul Gandhi) satisfied with this move of Sidhu? Will you suspend Sidhu?

Further, reminding Sudhu of the barbarity perpetrated by the Pakistani side, Dr. Patra said, “We are hugging Bajwa even after the knowledge that he is known for the deaths of innocent people. Did you not remember that scene when our mothers and sisters were crying.”

Recollecting other instances of Congress leaders toeing Pakistan’s line, the BJP leader said that it can’t be a mere coincidence that the party leaders like Salman Khurshid, Mani Shankar Aiyar, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Saifuddin Soz and now Navjot Singh Sidhu are all in the same fray.

“It is too much of a coincidence that we have another Congress leader in the same fray. You must remember Salman Khurshid’s statement on November 13, 2015. He had said Modi sarkar doesn't want peace. Then, Mani Shankar Aiyar after two days issued a similar statement. Then Azad did it, then Saifuddin Soz did it. And now, Sidhu has done it,” said the BJP spokesperson.

"After LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) certified Ghulam Nabi Azad, another Congress leader is hugging the Pakistan Army Chief,” added Dr. Patra.
