BJP's Sudhanshu Trivedi gets elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from UP

BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi was, on Wednesday, elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha in by-election from UP for the seat of late Arun Jaitley.

BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi was, on Wednesday, elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha in by-election from Uttar Pradesh. The seat that had fallen vacant after the demise of former Union Minister Arun Jaitley will now be taken up by Trivedi. The BJP had, on Thursday, nominated Sudhanshu Trivedi and Satish Chandra Dubey for the seat.

Trivedi, who has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and has been working for the party for a long time, had, on Friday, filed his nomination in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma and other senior leaders of the party.

Trivedi-a close kin to Rajnath Singh

The BJP leader, who is considered very close to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, was a part of the four-member committee which was responsible for the party's campaign during 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Trivedi also served as an Information and Political advisor to Singh when he took over as the BJP president. According to reports, he is also known for his debate skills and analysis of socio-political issues.

Leaders congratulated Trivedi

Many leaders including Keshav Prasad Maurya and Suresh Kumar Khanna took to Twitter to congratulate Trivedi.

Trivedi shows gratitude

Trivedi also took to Twitter to express his gratitude to his well-wishers.
