Hours after a fuming Mayawati dumped Congress, saying BSP will fight the upcoming Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh elections on its own, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav tried to salvage the situation, in the same breath, he also urged the Congress party to “take everyone together”.
“I don’t know what Congress has said. Congress is a good party. They understand everything . But I know one more thing that Bahujan Samaj Party is not taking any decision under the influence of anyone,” said Yadav.
Reacting on Mayawati’s claim that Congress’ ‘Mahagathbandhan’ dream will not fulfill, Akhilesh Yadav batted for Congress and said that I want the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ to happen.
“I want Mahagathbandhan to happen. The Congress should take everyone together. The Congress should take everyone together. The Congress shouldn’t waste time anymore and should have a word with everyone,” said Yadav.
Just five months after sharing stage with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati on Wednesday dumped Congress ahead of the 2019 General Assembly elections, delivering a hammerblow to the grand old party’s big ‘Mahagathbandhan’ dream. Putting the Congress on the mat, the BSP supremo announced, while addressing a press briefing, that her party will contest Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh elections alone and will not be allying with the Congress.
“We will contest Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh elections alone. We will not gain anything if we will go in alliance with the Congress at any cost. We will not bow in front of Congress. We have power to uproot our political rivals on our own,” said Mayawati.
Earlier in the day, Mayawati said that the Congress is using opposition parties for their own benefits. Mayawati also said that the Congress’ dream of the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ will not fulfill.
“Congress’ ‘Mahagathbandhan’ will never be strong because of the reckless behaviour of its leaders. Congress is having a day dream that it will defeat the BJP,” said Mayawati.
