Revolving his campaign around Lord Ram, Yogi Adityanath made his mandir pitch during the last day of campaigning in Chhattisgarh ahead of the elections saying that Ram Mandir will be made in Ayodhya and Chhattisgarh.
“I’ve said this time and again, I said this during the last Legislative Assembly in Chhattisgarh that the Ram Mandir will be built in God’s maternal home as well as his birth-place.”
Commenting on the statement of CM Yogi Adityanath, Shia Waqf Board Chief Wasim Rizvi said, “If he’s saying we should believe him. He’s a responsible man and as a Chief Minister, he’s making statements with responsibilities. The entire country wants this to happen, these are the sentiments of the nation. This sentiment should be respected and to resolve this issue if a Constitutional path is taken, then there’s nothing wrong in that.”
The Uttar Pradesh chief minister has formally spoken about a public statue of Lord Ram in Ayodhya and also expressed confidence, almost a sense of inevitability, about the construction of the Ram Temple on the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi site. On how exactly this would happen, he said that the government will abide by the Constitution in the matter of building of the Ram Mandir, the decades-old issue over which politics has recently spiked, ever since the Supreme Court delayed hearings in the matter till at least January 2019. Within the BJP there has been a chorus on a demand for a law to build the Ram Mandir before the SC hearing. Hundreds of seers at a Sant Sammelan'' gathering in New Delhi's Talkatora stadium on November 4 demanded an ordinance for constructing the Temple. The seers attended the Deepotsav festival on November 6.
CM Yogi said, "We intend to build a statue of Lord Ram for the devotees in an appropriate place and have been scouting for the land. We are in discussions with architects. A statue for worshipping will be in the temple, but we also want to build a statue for the devotees to have a darshan."
Speaking on the Ram Mandir, he said that the government will take steps within the law to ensure it. "There is a temple in Ayodhya, people have been coming to take a darshan of the Lord. Mandir tha, mandir hai, mandir rahega, there is no doubt this. We have faith in the constitution and we will follow the law in this matter," he said.
