Complaint lacks robust parameters : ECI tells Congress about MP electoral roll
The Election Commission of India has replied to the complaint made by the Congress party on the 3rd of June 2018 viz-a-viz the electoral rolls in Madhya Pradesh.

The Election Commission of India has replied to the complaint made by the Congress party on the 3rd of June 2018 viz-a-viz the electoral rolls in Madhya Pradesh. The ECI had constituted an inter disciplinary team for the constituencies namely Narela, Bhojpur, Hoshangabad and Seoni Malwa in the state of Madhya Pradesh
After doing intense field work and detailed verification the teams have submitted a detailed report.
In a bit of a setback to the claims of Congress from the evidence collected from ground the team concluded that such allegations of large-scale duplication and false and invalid electoral rolls was not based on robust parameters.
The ECI teams report the following:
- In 136' Seoni Malwa the team verified all 82 entries from 17 polling stations and found none of these fall in the category of multiple entry.
- In AC 151 Narela out of 22252 entries listed in the complaint 17684 was found unique.The team also checked 80 multiple image cases and found all entries are genuine.
- In AC 137 Hoshangabad 552 entries available check by the team and no case of multiple entry was found.
- In AC 141 Bhojpur the team did verification in 36 cases and found 29 of them as genuine and in 7 cases the process of deletion has already been initiated during continuous updation on the basis of these verifications
The Commission also assured that they have always been proactive in taking measures that would ensure and error-free electoral roll that too in a transparent manner incoordination with all the stakeholders including political parties.
The Commission further asked the Congress party to provide any more evidence if they have on the basis of which they would look into the issue in a time bound manner and a free and fair verification..
It was the Congress party that had alleged foul play in electoral roll in MP. Senior leaders like Jyotiradiya Scindia and Kamal Nath had taken the matter to the door of ECI and had demanded their urgent intervention.
