A big political fight has broken over a thank you note written by Vijay Mallya to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In the said letter, Vijay Mallya thanked the former prime minister for bailing out Kingfisher Airlines. The explosive note exposed not only Manmohan Singh’s direct intervention on behalf of Kingfisher Airlines, but also, yet another appeal by Mallya for another, larger intervention. Following the emergence of the letter, the BJP fired the Congress-Mallya nexus charge. And now, responding to BJP’s charge, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has targeted Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and PM Narendra Modi, claiming the CBI made a deliberate and favourable mistake allowing Vijay Mallya to escape.

“Would FM Arun Jaitley and PM Modi to whom Director CBI directly reports, kindly explain the reason for a very deliberate "Mistake" by CBI to allow Mallya to escape? Has anyone been held responsible in CBI for this very favorable "Mistake" which allowed Maliya to escape?,” tweeted Digvijaya Singh.

Taking another swipe at the Finance Minister and Prime Minister, Digvijaya in another tweet said, “Loot and Scoot” is a smart strategy.

On Thursday, CBI sources explained as to why Vijay Mallya wasn’t arrested, following a charge by the Congress that "the lookout notice to restrain Mallya was

diluted”. As per sources, the CBI didn’t arrest Mallya because he was ‘cooperating’ with the investigative agency.
