UPDATE: Roshan Baig is being questioned at CID Headquarters at Carlton House in Bengaluru by the SIT. The rebel Congress MLA has now moved the High Court over his detention by the SIT.
Eighteen days after Republic TV broke the story Congress link to the IMA (I Monetary Advisory) scam, MLA Roshan Baig has been detained at KIAL airport in Bengaluru on Monday night by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) He was trying to leave to Mumbai to join other rebel Congress-JD(S) MLAs who are camping there. As per reports, he is alleged to have been bribed with money worth crores by IMA mastermind Mansoor Khan, who too has released a video claiming he would return to India.
Republic TV had shown how Congress continued to back Baig despite the link to the Ponzi scam. Baig was also photographed with Mansoor Khan. He was to appear in front of SIT on July 19 but since he was leaving Bengaluru, he has been taken into custody, DCP Girish who is with the SIT has confirmed.
Meanwhile, JD(S) has blamed the BJP in the attempted escape to Mumbai of Baig. He said that Baig was with BJP Karnataka leader BS Yeddyurappa's personal assistant Santosh and BJP leader Yogeshwar while he tried to leave the city. He said that this proved BJP was actively trying to destabilising the government.

On Monday, Mansoor Khan who is accused in the IMA scam, said that he would return to India within the next 24 hours. The development comes days after Republic TV exposed links between the Congress-JD(S) links in the IMA Ponzi scam nexus that left thousands of investors in the lurch.
In a video released by Khan, he stated that he is trying to return to India within 24 hours and that he left the country under pressure in the first place. Furthermore, he reiterated his faith in the Indian judiciary system.
