Taking to Twitter, Rohan Gupta extended gratitude to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi for appointing him at the post. He also changed his Twitter bio, which now says "Chairman, Social Media Department Indian National Congress".
In June 2019, Divya Spandana aka Ramya, who served as the head of the Congress social media wing logged off her Twitter account. While her Twitter account did not display any tweets, her Twitter bio also did not mention her as head of social media of the Congress party. Later, she went incommunicado and has not come into the limelight since then. Sources had told news agency ANI, that she parted ways with the Grand Old party. However, no official confirmation was given from the party.
This development has come weeks ahead of the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana. In Maharashtra, Congress party is contesting in alliance with Sharad Pawar-led NCP who have announced a seat-sharing arrangement stating that both parties will contest on 125 seats each. In Haryana, Congress recently appointed former Union Minister Kumari Selja as the state unit party President, replacing Ashok Tanwar.
