Delhi CM and Aam Aam Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal was attacked by chilli powder on Tuesday afternoon at around 2 pm when he was leaving for lunch. The incident took place in front of the CM's office at the Delhi secretariat when a man named Anil Kumar Sharma from Naraina threw chilli on him. Early investigation has revealed that the attacker was a worker in the secretariat.
It is reported that the accused shouted 'Mai deshbhakt hu' before throwing chilli powder at him. A scuffle broke out between him and the other individuals present at the location, following which he was taken into custody and was then lodged in the Indraprastha police station. The party will hold a press conference at 3:45 pm, revealed party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj. Kejriwal managed to survive the attack as his spectacles managed to save him from the chilli getting into his eyes.
Aam Aadmi Party, in the aftermath of the attack, posted a tweet, terming it as a security breach by Delhi police.
