Congress president Rahul Gandhi has taken over his bastion Amethi in Uttar Pradesh for a two-day visit from Wednesday to participate in an array of projects. While he is all set to address the public of Amethi, Congress leaders have already made preparations for his grand welcome in his constituency.

Ahead of his visit in Amethi, banners branding Rahul Gandhi as the 'to-be Prime Minister' of the country have been put up on the streets of the district.

The poster reads, "Mission-2019  - Vidhan Sabha Tiloi welcomes soon-to-be Prime Minister Amethi legislator Rahul Gandhi"

Notably, Rahul Gandhi was going to visit Amethi earlier on January 4 as well but his visit got cancelled due to a heated debate on the Rafale deal in the Winter session of Parliament. Seemingly, during his earlier scheduled visit to Amethi as well, posters welcoming Rahul Gandhi were put up on the streets of the district, declaring him as the Prime Minister of the country.

The poster read, "Our Rahul looks like the Prime Minister".

Meanwhile, sources suggested that Rahul Gandhi may be rethinking over his decision to contest from Amethi, where he has been coming out victorious since 2004 elections. Sources further told that apart from Amethi, the Congress president may also can also consider contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Chhindwara - the fortress of newly-installed Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath - as well as Nanded in Maharashtra - another seat which is presently held by the Congress party.

In 2004 and 2009, the Congress president came out victorious with a huge margin from Amethi, finishing with more than double the votes of the runners-up.

Amid the fight over the seat of the Prime Minister of India between several political fronts, the leaders of the newly formed BSP-SP gathbandhan also presented their candidate for the PM's position.

On the occasion of BSP chief Mayawati's 63rd birthday, her party leaders had put out posters, not only sending wishes to her, but also declaring her as the 'soon-to-be Prime Minister'.
