Amid the controversy over Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu's 'Who Captain?' comment, Cabinet Ministers in Punjab have been asked by Delhi high command to not indulge in the matter, as per sources. Keeping in view the assembly elections in the state of Rajasthan and Telangana--scheduled to take place on December 7, 2018--the high command suggested all the cabinet ministers to not escalate the controversy which was erupted after Navjot Singh Sidhu's comment.

At the same time, Punjab leaders have adopted a new strategy by issuing posters on the social media and putting up banners in Punjab that reads: 'Amarinder is our Captain'.

Earlier this week, while addressing a news briefing, Sidhu was asked about Captain Amarinder Singh saying that he was against Sidhu going to Pakistan for the Kartarpur Corridor's ceremony, to which Sidhu said:

"My captain is Rahul Gandhi. He sent me everywhere. What are you talking about? Which captain are you talking about? Oh, Captain Amarinder Singh ji? He's a Captain in the Army my brother. My captain is Rahul Gandhi sir and even his (Captain Amarinder Singh's) captain is Rahul Gandhi. He is our captain. Captain Sir's captain and my captain is Rahul Gandhi"

After the statement, Punjab Minister sought his resignation from the state cabinet for his remark on Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. A cabinet meeting will be held on December 3 regarding the same.

Talking to media, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa had said:

"I am not angry with Sidhu. Rahul Gandhi is the Captain of all of us but Punjab, CM Captain Amarindar Singh is also the Captain. He is crossing the Laxman Rekha. This is about his morality. He should leave the cabinet. He is extra ordinary person. I am asking him to control his language and it is is my request. It's upto him to to resign or not.  I have not spoken to Amarindar ji and This is my personal view. Rahul ji is busy in rallies. Gopal chawla is not small issue. Sidhu ji should apologize or resign on his moral duty."

The resignation demand came even as Sidhu backtracked on his claim in Hyderabad that he attended the groundbreaking ceremony in Pakistan for the Kartarpur corridor after Congress president Rahul Gandhi asked him to go.

Mr Sidhu, on Friday, had said that it was Congress President Rahul Gandhi who sent him there for attending the foundation laying ceremony of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor and that he was his "Captain".
