BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr Subramanian Swamy has aired his views on Thursday's bypoll results, opining that they constituted a "huge setback".

Dr Swamy took to Twitter to issue a pair of posts, separated by almost 12 hours, on the matter.

In his first tweet, Dr Swamy reflected on the results, attributing the performance to hubris. He did, however, claim that the trend is easily reversible, though to do so, the party needs a new ethos:

Then, early on Friday morning, Dr Swamy tweeted again the things that need to be done to ensure that the 'mood' is reversed and becomes favourable for the BJP.

In Dr Swamy-speak, PVN refers to former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao, TDK to Sonia Gandhi, Bambino to Rahul Gandhi, PC to P Chidambaram.

The BJP managed to retain just one of its three Lok Sabha seats in which bypolls were held on Monday. It lost to a united opposition-backed RLD candidate in Uttar Pradesh's Kairana, and to a Congress-backed NCP in Bhandara-Gondia in Maharashtra. It did, however, manage to defeat the Shiv Sena and others in another high-profile bypoll in Maharashtra's Palghar constituency, while NDA affiliate NDPP managed to win the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland.

Here's a full account of the results.
