A man hurled a shoe at AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi while the latter was addressing a rally at Nagpada in south Mumbai. The incident took place at around 9:45 on Tuesday evening when the AIMIM Chief was voicing his opposition on the triple talaq issue. Owaisi remained unfazed by the incident and claimed that his 'voice cannot be silenced.'
“My brothers, you will not believe what lengths this government can go to fulfill its Hindutva agenda (shoe was thrown). Please sit down. Nothing has happened, please sit down. Since I took Modi's name, the man had a problem, I will say more now. Nothing will happen, sit down. (gestures to crowd) Please move from here and sit down. Don't create a tamasha here (drama), sit down. We have 35 minutes remaining now. In these 35 minutes, I will criticise him more.”
Furthermore, the police have identified through CCTV footage the man who hurled the shoe at Owaisi and are in process to arrest him.
Merely a day ago, Owaisi stirred a debate when he claimed that the justice in the name of Triple Talaq is a medium to target 'Shariat'. While addressing a public meeting at Aurangabad, Maharashtra, the AIMIM chief said, "Justice for women is an excuse; the target is Shariat".
