Former Congress leader Srikant Kumar Jena took on party's president Rahul Gandhi on the issues hurting Odisha. He has challenged Gandhi to take on the mining scam in Odisha.

Jena also alleged that Gandhi never responded to multiple letters he wrote to him about the 'burning issues of Odisha' when he was in Congress.

Srikant Jena in the letter asked Rahul Gandhi whether he agreed with him on his suggestion that the properties of illegal mining owners be confiscated and criminal charges be pressed against them when Congress comes to power. "I had suggested that the Odisha Congress bring the issue of the mining scam (in the state) to the forefront and declare that upon coming to power we will confiscate the properties of all illegal mining owners, their patrons and press criminal charges. Do you agree with this?" he wrote.

He also asked whether Gandhi agreed with him on his suggestion that the next chief ministerial candidate should be elected from SC, ST amd other OBC communities who constituted 92% of the population.

"I had suggested that the Congress must make social justice an election issue by declaring that its chief minister will be from among the SC, ST and OBC communities…. Do you agree with this," he wrote.

He also demanded to know how Gandhi could say 'Chowkidaar Chor hai' when simultaneously stand with those who looted Odisha's mineral wealth. He added saying, "It shocked me that you did not mention a single word about the mining scam…"

He demanded to know whether Gandhi and Congress still consider Odisha a part of India.  "Is Odisha not part of India for the Congress party anymore? Please clarify."
