Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lead an attack on the Congress from the party's home turf of Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh. Taking on several issues that have taken the spotlight in the last few months, including the extradition of Christian Michel, Supreme Court verdict on the Rafale deal and the Congress' 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'' controversy, Modi has set the agenda for battle of 2019 Lok Sabha.
Here are insignificant portions of PM Modi's speech:
'"In Indian history today's date is very important. Today, our brave hearts ensured the victory upon terror. I salute to all those martyrs. There are many others who feel embarrassed in chanting " Bharat Mata ki Jai". They want to abuse Modi but I want to know why they have put the nation's security at stake for this.
There are two groups in the country one group wants to strengthen army but on the other side another group wants to weaken them. The people know which country is supporting them. Why is that some leaders are saying something and Pakistanis are applauding them. "
"PM Modi after reading a prose from Ram Charitmanas which talks about people who speak lies, listen to lies and spread lies hinted towards Congressrefusal to accept the SC verdict on the Rafale deal. "For such people, the defence minister is lying, Supreme Court is lying, Army and Air Force officers lying, France ex-President is also lying, Supreme Court is also lying."
"We have got Christian Michel extradited . We have seen how Congress was hell bent to save Christian Michel. Congress sent it's lawyer to defend Christian Michel. I want to ask why Congress people are stalling the (Rafale) deal? Is it because it has no middleman like Michel. "
"The BJP government is for the people, for the country not for the party. In 2009, the Indian Army demanded 1,86000 bullet proof jacket. This demand was never met in UPA regime, but after coming in power we ensured that the Army was provided with the jackets. By April, we will provide them with 50,000 jackets. We have even ordered for 1,86,000 jackets and gave the order to a Indian company."
"If the Congress had come to power in 2004, then the Tejas fighter planes would never happen. We decided in 2016 to include Tejas fighter planes in small squadrons. We sanctioned 83 Tejas Planes which is being built at HAL. We doubled the capacity of HAL and approved Rs 1400 crore for it.
"What will you expect from the party which abuses Indian Army Chief? What will you expect from the party which raises questions on surgical strike? I don't have any expectation from the party which questions surgical strike, calls our party president Goonda, has more faith in the enemy claims than its own. Those who have given out an insignificant amount of money for OROP and laud themselves, what do you expect from them? The Congress cares neither for Jawans nor the Kisans."
"Why did they not implement MS Swaminathan Report, were they under some pressure. We have impemented the recommendations of Swaminathan's Report for 22 crops. They will never tell you that with one decision of implementing MS Swaminathan's Report will benefit our farmers nearly Rs 60,000 crores."
