Gaurav Gogoi becomes AICC in-charge of Tripura after Faleiro

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on late Monday appointed Gaurav Gogoi as the AICC in-charge of Tripura and Manipur, relieving Luizinho Faleiro of the post.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi late Monday appointed Gaurav Gogoi as AICC in-charge of Tripura and Manipur, relieving Luizinho Faleiro of the post. Faleiro continues to be the All Indian Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge of other Northeastern states. His removal comes days after former Tripura Congress Chief Pradyot Debbarman resigned from the party writing to Gandhi against Faleiro. Gogoi is a sitting MP from Kaliabor in Assam. 

According to a party statement, Gogoi will hold the new post "along with his current responsibilities as in charge of West Bengal and Andman and Nicobar Islands".

Ajay Kumar Lallu appointed as the new Cong chief in UP 

The Congress, on Monday night, appointed Ajay Kumar Lallu as president of its Uttar Pradesh unit, replacing Raj Babbar.  Ajay is the Congress Legislature Party leader in Uttar Pradesh and is a two-time MLA from Tamkuhi Raj constituency. He is well known for being close to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who is the party's General Secretary (In-charge, Uttar Pradesh East). Babbar had offered to resign from his post in May, taking “moral responsibility” after the party’s Lok Sabha poll debacle. Lallu’s place as the new CLP leader will now be taken by Rampur MLA Aradhna Mishra Mona, who is the daughter of senior leader Pramod Tiwari. Congress will also get a new 45-member state executive body.
