BJP on Tuesday demanded Alpesh Thakor’s resignation from Congress party while citing videos put out by Republic. BJP national spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra said that “If Rahul Gandhi is actually worried for Gujarat, Bihar and India then he must immediately expel Alpesh Thakor from the party. This is what BJP demands from Rahul Gandhi and Congress Party."
Dr Sambit Patra, while addressing a press conference, said that “the videos of Alpesh Thakor clearly shows that truth doesn’t need any proof”.
“He (Alpesh Thakor) instigated people. He tried to fan violence. Alpesh, who is the MLA of Congress can be seen in the videos and we can see that they are instigating,” said Dr Sambit Patra.
Earlier on Monday, Republic TV accessed a video wherein Alpesh Thakor can be seen making a divisive speech, thirteen days before tension began in Gujarat. In the video, Thakor can be seen saying, “These people who have come from outside they commit crime over here (unclear) and then beat our villagers in their own village.”
Further citing Republic TV’s sting operation, the BJP national spokesperson said:
“Through stings we can see he is responsible. He is a close aide of Rahul Gandhi, not a normal MLA of Congress. Chaos.conspiracy and confusion - the three Cs which are the characteristics of Congress party.”
Thousands and Thousands of migrant workers from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are fleeing the state of Gujarat after being attacked continuously. Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor who is facing allegations of inciting Thakor community refuted the allegations but in a sting operation carried out by Republic TV on a top aide of Alpesh Thakor on Monday, his claim has been contradicted. Republic TV’s Priyanka Sharma stung Jagat Thakor, the Ahmedabad Chief of the Thakor Sena, who admitted Congress role in the tensions in Gujarat.
Dr Sambit Patra also claimed that it is Congress’ political tactic that they employ before every election.
“Before every election, these kind of politics of violence take place and gets emboldened by the Congress. We can take Gujarat elections as an example. Before Karnataka elections also they tried to divide the Hindus,” said Dr Patra.
