PM Narendra Modi has thanked Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh for backing him to be the next Prime Minister following the Lok Sabha polls in 2019.

"Iss sadan ne 1400 se zada kanoon khatam bhi kare hain, ek jungle jaisa ban gaya tha kanoonon ka. Yeh shubh shuruwat hui hai, bahut karna abhi baaki hai...aur uske liye Mulayam ji ne ashirwaad diya hi hai. (This Parliament has brought to end over 1400 laws. We have begun a lot of work and there is a lot of work left to do, and for that Mulayam Singh has given his blessings)," he said.

In a surprising turn of event, former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav declared in the Lok Sabha that he wants PM Narendra Modi back as the next Prime Minister.

While addressing the members of Parliament, standing right next to Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, his words were, "We want you to become the prime minister once again."

You have to please every MP in this parliament. It's very difficult to please and not everyone can be pleased. We have experienced this whenever we argue.

When he talks, I would only like to say, you have managed the parliament really well.  I want to congratulate the Prime Minister. Prime Minister, you have worked for everyone. This is absolutely correct, whenever I asked for something you immediately ordered for it. Anything wrong, you corrected it. I really appreciate and respect you for taking everyone along. (inaudible) It's really difficult to please everyone. But still, nobody speaks against you or makes any comment against you. For this, I would like to congratulate you. And I hope, along with the Parliament that you should win again. This is my wish. We couldn't win the majority. We want you to become the Prime Minister once again," he said.
