Days after the Income Tax (I-T) Department seized Rs 1.66 crore in cash during raids conducted across Karnataka, CM HD Kumaraswamy has said that he is not afraid of the I-T raids and leveled sensational accusation on PM Modi.

After paying tribute to Father of Indian Constitution Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on his 128th birth anniversary, Kumaraswamy interacted with the media and said: "I don't need to learn from PM Modi. As a CM, I have not taken the lives of innocent people, as he did."

Referring to the I-T raids in the state, Kumaraswamy said: "I am not afraid of such raids. Even when JDS president HD Deve Gowda went to someone's house for dinner, his house was raided. What kind of government is this," he asked.

BIG CLAIM: Deve Gowda Accuses BJP Of Carrying Out I-T Raids On Karnataka Minister, Claims It's Revenge Against JD(S) For Refusing Alliance Even After Being Offered Money

Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda had earlier commented on the raids saying that it was an act of political vendetta as the BJP offered money to the JD(S) and wanted to form the government with Kumaraswamy but he refused. The I-T raids were also carried on Karnataka minor irrigation minister CS Puttaraju.

"Yesterday, from various states, nearly 300 I-T officials, with the support of th CRPF, came to Bangalore...They only chose particularly Mandya and Hassan," said the JD(S) supremo. So now, they have targeted Hassan and Mandya. DK Shivakumar's target is not yesterday, it (has been) going on. Two important parliamentary constituencies have been selected. The investigation is going on. To what mean level they have stooped, PWD office is being searched. How the LoC has been released, how much each contractor has got the LoC..." he said.

Karnataka will go to polls during the second and third phases of Lok Sabha elections on April 18 and April 23 respectively. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
