Just a day after he named Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan's son in his attack on the government over Panama papers, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has backtracked from his statement, stating he got 'confused'.
Speaking at an event, where other senior Congress leaders were also present, the party President said, "I go to Telangana, Rajasthan, BJP has done so many scams, I got confused. There is so much confusion, so many scams. Panama scam was done by Madhya Pradesh CM, no. He was not involved in Panama scam. But he was involved in the Vyapam scam and other scams."
His admission to making an error comes after Shivraj Singh Chouhan promised to file a defamation case against the Congress president for his false comments against him and his family.
Rahul Gandhi, while speaking at the rally, had stated that MP CM's son was named in Panama papers while comparing India and Pakistan in handling of such cases.
"Shivraj Chouhan ji...Mamaji...udher Chowkidar...Idher mamaji...Mamaji kehte hai...Acha sabse pehle...Mamaji ke jo bete hai...Panama papers main unka naam nikalta hai...Nawaz Sharif ka naam nikalta hai...Pakistan jaise desh main usko jail main daal dete hai...Magar yahah CM ka beta uska naam Panama papers main nikalta hai to koi karavi nahi hoti." (Shivraj Singh, also known as Mamaji, his son has been named in the Panama papers. Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was named in also named and he was ousted from the country. But here no action has been taken place as of now)," the Congress supremo had said.
