Senior BJP leader Ram Madhav and JKNC chief Omar Abdullah have engaged in a Twitter battle, yet again. This time, the war of tweets between the leaders broke out following Mehbooba Mufti’s explosive statement warning the Centre against horse trading.

The Twitter war between the leaders started when Ram Madhav tweeted out an old picture in retaliation to Mehbooba Mufti’s attack on ‘Delhi’ accusing it of always eying to create rifts. The picture showed former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi with Farooq Abdullah (left) and Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Taking a dig at Mehbooba Mufti, Ram Madhav captioned the picture as “A 1987-vintage picture. ‘Delhi’ with Farooq Abdullah. D other leader in picture is easily recognisable, at least by Mehaboobaji, who accuses, wrongly, ‘Delhi’ for her own party’s internal problems..”

The ‘other leader’, who Ram Madhav didn't’t name was Mehbooba Mufti's father and former J-K CM late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

The picture was reportedly taken in 1986, a year before the 1987 elections in Kashmir.

Even though Mehbooba Mufti hasn’t responded to the sarcastic tweet so far, but the tweet has garnered a response from Omar Abdullah, who replied back saying: Here @MehboobaMufti, it takes your estranged friends & allies to remind you of your family history when you talk about 1987.

Soon after Omar Abdullah’s tweet, pat came Ram Madhav’s reply saying, “Incidentally, we were also allies for a couple of years Omarji!.” The tweet soon got a response from the JKNC leader who said, ”We were but Vajpayee Sahib ka zamana kuch aur he tha, us dour ka kya kehna. Those days it was ‘insaniyat, jamhuriyat aur Kashmiriyat’.

Notably, NC and and NDA were in alliance under prime ministerial-ship of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Omar Abdullah has been launching an all-out attack on the BJP and Mehbooba Mufti over latter’s explosive statement. After criticising Mufti for her warning to the Centre, Omar called the BJP “opportunist” for sidelining the PDP President.

This is not the first time that Ram Madhav and Omar Abdullah have engaged in a war of words. Recently, a Twitter war erupted between the two when Omar Abdullah alleged split within the ranks of the PDP, with Madhav opposing Abdullah's submissions that the BJP is trying to break up its former ally.

Earlier, amid the emergence of rift within People's Democratic Party (PDP), former Jammu-Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has issued an explosive statement. Mufti has come out and said if the centre tried to plant a rift within her party or try and do horse trading, then it may result in the rise of more separatists and terrorists like Yasin Malik and Syed Salahuddin.
