Farmer, jobs and Rafael deal are supposedly Congress party’s favorites when it comes to attacking PM Modi and the BJP
Congress, who has been attacking the Prime Minister over farmers issue, has stepped up its ire after the Mandsaur firing incident in Madhya Pradesh and over the issue of Sugarcane farmers in Uttar Pradesh.
At least five farmers in Mandsaur lost their lives in police firing last year, when the farmers’ protest turned violent. The farmers in Madhya Pradesh were demanding loan waiver and better price for their crops.
After sugarcane farmers threatening to commit suicide, and a few even taking the extreme step, the government recently decided to announce a massive package of Rs 10,000 crore for the sugarcane farmers.
The grand old party has often chided the Central government claiming it failed to generate jobs, rendering the situation of unemployment even worse. On Monday itself, Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at the Centre and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari while putting latter’s “where are jobs” remark to his own use. Taking a swipe at him, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Excellent question Gadkari Ji. Every Indian is asking the same question. #WhereAreTheJobs?
Congress has been blaming the NDA government for irregularities in the Rafale deals. This is even as Republic TV recently accessed Rafale papers which proved that the UPA government had decided on a deal which was more pricier than what PM Modi-led NDA government agreed upon.
The 36 Rafale jets under Modi government cost Rs 1646 crore per unit, while under the UPA government it cost Rs 1705 crore per unit, which is Rs 59 crore costlier than the NDA deal. Furthermore, the NDA got the deal with enhancements.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi chaired the parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday as UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was not keeping well.
