Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a public addressed denounced the Congress party and Navjot Singh Sidhu for standing next to a pro-Khalistani, Gopal Singh Chawla in Pakistan's Kartarpur Corridor ceremony.
Chouhan questioning the patriotism of the Congress party took strong objection towards Sidhu's interaction with a terrorist sympathiser Gopal Chawla and proclaimed that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi should be ashamed.
"Congress leader Navjot Sidhu should be ashamed to stand next to Khalistanis in photographs. Congress should be ashamed, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi should be ashamed. Is this their patriotism? You will question the BJP?"
Gopal Singh Chawla, the aide of the 26/11 terror attack mastermind, took to his social media and even shared a picture with Punjab minister Sidhu on November 29 in which he referred to him in as his 'brother'. This is after Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had named Chawla as a terrorist while speaking to Republic TV
In his 'personal capacity', Navjot Singh Sidhu had attended the Kartarpur foundation stone-laying ceremony, even as Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh was not in favour of his visit to Pakistan, having declined his own invitation citing the terrorism that Pakistan so regularly perpetrates from its soil onto India.
Prior to this, Chief Minister Chouhan launched an attack on the Congress manifesto prior to the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh.
Addressing a campaign rally here, Chouhan said that Congress is angry with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) because of the developmental and welfare work undertaken by his government in the last 15 years since it came to power.
"Of the 70 years since we achieved independence, Congress was in power for 54 years. What did Congress do during that time? During their rule, they destroyed Madhya Pradesh. They turned Madhya Pradesh into a bimaru state. We are now in power in Madhya Pradesh for the last 15 years," Chouhan said.
Taking a jibe at the Congress over its poll promise of waiving loans for the farmers, Chouhan said: "Let me ask you all one thing, Congress ruled for 54 years, did they worry about the farmers at that time? Now, they are talking about the welfare of farmers."
