Fayaz showed his fury by even tearing his kurta. Later, he tore a copy of the Indian Constitution in the Rajya Sabha, after which Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu ordered him to leave the Parliament.

Earlier, PDP leade and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had termed the decision as the ‘darkest day in Indian democracy’. She tweeted, “Today marks the darkest day in Indian democracy. Decision of J&K leadership to reject 2 nation theory in 1947 & align with India has backfired. Unilateral decision of GOI to scrap Article 370 is illegal & unconstitutional which will make India an occupational force in J&K.”

Mufti added, “It will have catastrophic consequences for the subcontinent. GOIs intentions are clear. They want the territory of J&K by terrorising it’s people. India has failed Kashmir in keeping its promises.”

She also claimed to be ‘under house arrest’, “Already under house arrest & not allowed to have visitors either. Not sure how long I’ll be able to communicate. Is this the India we acceded to?”

Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday proposed in the Parliament that the Article 370 be revoked. He also made a statement about four more proposals related to Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir will no longer be a state and J&K and Ladakh will now be separate union territories.
