As a celebratory atmosphere spread across India with Home Minister Shah proposing the revocation of Article 370, that gave Jammu and Kashmir special status, in the  Parliament on Monday, Uddhav Thackeray exulted at a press conference in Mumbai. He stated a big dream of Shiv Sena and former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been fulfilled today.  He also said that his father would’ve delighted had he been alive.

Thackeray stated that August 15 is celebrated as Independence Day, but it was only today that we actually became free as all the shackles have been broken.  Thackeray also urged all dissenting parties to keep their political ideology aside and think of it as a massive development for national integration.

He also exulted that a promise Shiv Sena-BJP made in their manifesto has been honoured. Thackeray stated that no will dare to attack us as we showed the power of our unity to the world with this move. He shared the move will benefit the people of Kashmir since the region has never been separate and will always belong to India.
