In a major development amid the political crisis in Kumaraswamy-led Karnataka government, sources have told that Congress delegation is going to meet JD(S) supremo Deve Gowda at his residence on Thursday. Sources have told that senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has instructed Siddaramaiah, KC Venugopal and other leaders from the Grand Old Party to suggest to Deve Gowda that CM Kumaraswamy should resign on Friday, when the first session of Karnataka Assembly will take place.

The situation has come after sources have suggested that Congress is expecting 4 more MLAs to resign by Thursday. Following Ghulam Nabi Azad's suggestion, Siddaramaiah is likely to suggest to HDK to make his final speech and step down on Friday.

Amid this crisis, Kumaraswamy has called for an emergency meeting of the Karnataka cabinet at 11 am on Thursday.

This development has come even after Congress leader DK Shivakumar reached the Mumbai Hotel, where the rebel MLAs were staying, in an attempt to pursue them to not quit the party. However, he along with Milind Deora who joined him and other Congress leaders in the movement outside the Mumbai Hotel, were detained by the police.

In another setback for the Congress-JD(S) coal, two more Congress MLAs Dr. K Sudhakar and MTB Nagaraj tendered their resignations, bringing the total number of resignations to 16 MLAs from the Kumaraswamy government.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is going to hear the matter of Karnataka on Thursday in which the Kumaraswamy Government will reportedly be represented by SC advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi. The rebel MLAs, represented by Supreme Court advocate Mukul Rohatgi have filed a plea before the CJI Ranjan Gogoi accusing the Karnataka Assembly Speaker of having malafide intent of trying to save minority Congress-JD(S) government in the state.
