Karnataka Crisis: Short on numbers, CM HD Kumaraswamy may resign in face of Independent MLA Nagesh's exit, even as Congress-JD(S) get desperate

In a massive political development to the already fickle Karnataka government, now CM HD Kumaraswamy is likely to resign on Tuesday, as per sources after the resignation of all 22 Congress leaders.  

According to sources, Kumaraswamy will wait and watch the political development until Tuesday before issuing his resignation. 

In a fast-paced political scenario, hours ago, all Congress MLAs have tendered their resignations to accommodate the rebel MLAs who are currently in Mumbai's Sofitel Hotel. However, the MLAs have staunchly opposed to bend on their decision. 

HD Kumaraswamy has asked his ministers to quit, according to the sources. Kumaraswamy will summon all the 34 MLAs to Taj West End by Monday afternoon, take the resignations of his ministers and then possibly head to a resort, say sources. The Karnataka CM will also tell the MLAs that they all need to stick together and make way for others.

Meanwhile, Independent MLA Nagesh who was supporting the coalition in Karnataka has resigned and withdrew his support to the government and has pledged his support BJP if it forms a government. His documents regarding his resignation, withdrawal of support to the present government and that of pledging support to the BJP government are below.

The JD(S)-Congress coalition's total strength after Nagesh withdrawing his support, is 117 (Congress-78, JD(S)-37, BSP-1 and Independents-1), besides the Speaker.

The BJP has 105 MLAs in the House, where the half-way mark is 113. If the resignations of the MLAs  are accepted, the coalition's tally will be reduced to 104. The Speaker also has a vote.

Presently, there was a breakfast meeting underway on at Deputy CM G Parameshwara's house which is being attended by Congress ministers as well as HD Kumaraswamy. "We are following all that very closely and know what to do, including, if need be, all of us may resign and accommodate the MLAs," the Deputy CM said ahead of the meeting. He had also admitted that the rebelling MLAs were unhappy with the coalition government.  "Few were unhappy due to delay in the development work, few with Chief Minister and few with deputy Chief Minister. We are talking with MLAs. We are trying to save the government," he had said.
