The Karnataka Government with EC's order has banned the BJP advertisements which allegedly show Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a bad light. The Election Commission in Delhi has stayed three BJP ads after Congress’ complaint. The EC believed that the ad showed Siddaramaiah in a bad light as it showed various controversies and alleged corruption in his regime.

The Karnataka Congress had approached the EC earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, the BJP has claimed that all the ads have been cleared by the EC before they went on air. It also said that if it doesn’t suit someone’s sensitivity, too bad, but it shouldn’t have been banned.

For now, the ban on the ad is temporary as a hearing is underway in the case. Republic TV has also accessed the order passed by the EC in connection with the ad war case, which prohibits all television networks, radio, social media and other digital media from telecasting or broadcasting the advertisement.

Hailing the EC's order, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said, "BJP’s vitriolic agenda stumped as EC bans the venemous advts’ of its Karnataka unit facing imminent defeat! Truth prevails!!."

Earlier in the day, he had slammed the BJP for the advertisements and said, "As a defeatist BJP in Karnataka publishes venomous & obnoxious advts’ and commit electoral offences, a delegation of Sr. leaders of @INCIndia will meet ECI today at 5 PM to demand action. We hope the ECI will intervene to protect the integrity of election process."
