Continuing their onslaught against actor Rajinikanth for supporting the abrogation of Article 370 led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress MP from Sivaganga Karti Chidambaram launched a fresh attack on the actor, accusing him of speaking without sufficient knowledge of the constitution.
The son of veteran Congress leader P Chidambaram hit out at the Kollywood star and said that the 'Superstar' should explain his political stance at every instance as he intends to make his way to politics.
''Mr. Rajinikanth who spoke in an event where vice president and Home minister participated, he has appreciated PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah as Arjun and Krishna on their act on Kashmir decision. This is really disappointing. I feel he said this without understanding the history of Kashmir and Indian constitution. He said he is going to start a political party soon, He has spoken to many friends also about this'', he said.
Karti continued to slam the actor and said that since he was going to enter the political fray soon, Rajinikanth should voice his opinions on all the matters instead of being selective.
''He also said that he is going to contest in all the constituencies in upcoming assembly elections. On this note, he should speak up on all the issue and not only in one. What's his stand on RTI bill, in NEET exam? In UAPA? In the Mullaperiyar issue, in Sri Lankan-Tamil and other state-related issues? He just cannot talk only on one issue and walk away just like that, people who are not in public life can do that, but a person who wanted to start a political party should not do this. He should explain his stand in everything.
He asked the actor to re-read history in order to be 'better informed' about the situation.
''Rajinikanth has referred to puranas and has appreciated PM and HM, I am requesting Rajinikanth to read the history as well, History of Kashmir and history of German. Specifically, from 1930 to 1945 in German and then he should speak'', he added.
Former union minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday lambasted the BJP for abrogation of Article 370, saying the saffron party would not have "snatched away" the special status had Jammu and Kashmir been a Hindu-dominated state.
Rajinikanth lauded Home Minister Amit Shah for his ‘Mission Kashmir’ after the government successfully moved to remove Article 370, while passing the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill in the Parliament earlier in the week. Praising Amit Shah for his speech in the Parliament and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the superstar termed the duo as the ‘Krishna-Arjuna’ combination, though adding that only they know who was Krishna and Arjuna in the partnership.
Speaking at the launch of a book on Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s two-year charge in office, Rajinikanth told Amit Shah, who was seated among the dignitaries on the stage, “Heartfelt congratulations for Mission Kashmir. The way you conducted it, hats off, especially the speech you delivered in Parliament. Fantastic sir. Now people will come to know who is Amit Shah. I'm happy about it.”
The veteran actor continued, “Amit Shah ji and Modi ji is like Krishna-Arjuna combination, we don’t know is Krishna and Arjuna, they only know. Good luck to you and to the country, through you.”
