The coalition government in Karnataka formed by the Congress and JD(S) seem to be in a risk of losing its MLAs. After two Independent MLAs withdrew their support from the Congress-JD(S) alliance in Karnataka on Tuesday, the coalition government's fate hangs in the balance as sources have suggested that five other Congress MLAs might also pull out from the alliance.

Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge addresses press briefing amid the speculations of party leaders withdrawing their support.

"Modi government is trying to break our MLAs - they are trying to intimidating our MLAs in the name of ED. They are not able to succed in this and then they have kept their own MLAs protected in Gurugram. Earlier they also said that there will be revolution on Sankrati (Sankrant par Kranti hogi). However, there was not revolution but the festival went well. 

BJP did the same earlier also in Karnataka - Lotus Operation and they tried hard to form the government. But they failed to do so. Now they have started trying again. But now all our 118 MLAs intact. Nobody is going anywhere. The Congress is going strong. BJP is spreading rumours."

Sources have told Republic TV Congress president Rahul Gandhi called HD Deve Gowda on Tuesday night and inquired about the situation. As per sources, HD Deve Gowda comforted Gandhi saying there will be no threat to the government in the state. 

Earlier on Wednesday, while speaking to reporters in the matter, senior Janata Dal (Secular) HD Deve Gowda assured that everything is fine in the state. 

"They have to keep their own members together. Kumaraswamy is doing well and they are not able to target him over any issue. Nothing is going to happen, the government is going to last full time five years," said HD Deve Gowda.

Reportedly, HD Kumaraswamy claims everything under control. 
"I am in touch with everybody and I am speaking to everybody, they will come back. Our coalition is going on smoothly. I was relaxed and I am relaxed. Don't worry, be happy," said HD Kumaraswamy as reported by ANI.

The coalition government in Karnataka formed by the Congress and JD(S) seem to be in a risk of losing its MLAs. 

After two Independent MLAs withdrew their support from the Congress-JD(S) alliance in Karnataka on Tuesday, the coalition government's fate hangs in the balance as sources have suggested that five other Congress MLAs might also pull out from the alliance.  

On Tuesday night, Karnataka's Maski MLA Pratap Gowda Patil reached Renaissance Hotel in Gurugram and is likely to join BJP, sources have suggested (He was BJP MLA in 2008, but in 2013 he joined Congress). 

The six Congress MLAs from Karnataka including Mahesh Kumutahalli,  Nagendra, Umesh Yadav, Kampli Ganesh, Ramesh Jarkiholi have been camping in Mumbai since Tuesday. They are likely to decide on quitting the party, say sources.

Earlier on Tuesday, Independent MLA H Nagesh and R Shankar addressed the media in Mumbai and withdrew support to Congress-JD(S) coalition.  After that Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy and JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda have said that they are assured about the coalition staying intact.

While addressing the media, MLA R Shankar Said: "For many years I have represented the people of my constituency. I have decided to withdraw my support. I will ensure that I fulfil the needs of the people of Karnataka and therefore I have taken this decision. This is a government of lies and are not serving the people of the state. Hence, I have taken the decision".

H Nagesh, Independent MLA said:

"My support to coalition govt was to provide good&stable govt which utterly failed. There's is no understanding among coalition partners. So, I decided to go with BJP to install a stable government and see that government performs better than the coalition".

On Monday,  Republic TV broke the news that Congress MLAs from Karnataka camping in Mumbai's Powai hotel for unknown and as-yet-undisclosed reasons.
