On the occasion of senior BJP leader LK Advani's birthday, several people on social media have shared images of the former Deputy PM from his early life. On Friday, a well known social media account that posts old images of historical significance tweeted a photo claiming to be of Advani from his childhood. The account also tweeted a photo of Advani with PM Narendra Modi when he (Advani) was filing his nomination papers to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 1991 from Gandhinagar in Gujarat.

Advani was one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was a member of Jana Sangh, founded in 1951, was the precursor to the Bharatiya Janata Party, which was launched in 1980. He is credited for crafting the BJP's rise to a pre-eminent position in the late 80s and 90s after it had hit a low of two Lok Sabha seats in the 1984 polls. Advani was made a member of 'margdarshak mandal' (group of mentors) in 2014 after it came to power.

PM Modi wishes Advani

PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday wished former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani on his 92nd birthday in a series of tweets. Calling him one of the most respected leaders, he said that Advani had shaped the BJP and led to its rise. He also spoke about Advani's career as a Union Minister and spoke about his capability.
