Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is set to file a defamation suit against Congress President Rahul Gandhi for his recent false comments on him and his family at a rally in Jhabua on Monday.

The Congress supremo, while attacking the BJP leader, had stated that Shivraj's son was involved in the leaked Panama papers, without realizing that he was actually speaking about Chattisgarh CM Raman Singh. And soon after, Shivraj Singh took note of his comments, and promised filing defamation suit for 'maximum damages'. His message on Twitter read,

"Mr @RahulGandhi You have been making patently false allegations of Vyapam to Panama Papers against me and my family. Tomorrow, I am filing a criminal defamation suit for maximum damages against you for frivolous and malafide statements. Let law take its own course now."

He further added, "Since the past few years, Congress has been putting wrong allegations against me and my family. We respect everyone, but today, Rahul Gandhi has crossed all the limits after naming my son of having been named in the Panama papers. Tomorrow itself we will file a defamation case against him."

Rahul Gandhi, while speaking at the rally, had stated that MP CM's son was named in Panama papers while comparing India and Pakistan in handling of such cases.

"Shivraj Chouhan ji...Mamaji...udher Chowkidar...Idher mamaji...Mamaji kehte hai...Acha sabse pehle...Mamaji ke jo bete hai...Panama papers main unka naam nikalta hai...Nawaz Sharif ka naam nikalta hai...Pakistan jaise desh main usko jail main daal dete hai...Magar yahah CM ka beta uska naam Panama papers main nikalta hai to koi karavi nahi hoti." (Shivraj Singh, also known as Mamaji, his son has been named in the Panama papers. Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was named in also named and he was ousted from the country. But here no action has been taken place as of now)," the Congress supremo had said.
