Dismissing the suggestion given by Manohar Parrikar to replace him as the Goa Chief Minister, BJP President Amit Shah has made it clear that the former Defence minister will continue on as the CM, while adding that there will reshuffle in the state cabinet.

Parrikar, who has underwent medical treatment on multiple occasions owing to his health conditions, had urged Amit Shah earlier this month to find a suitable replacement for him. But on Sunday, the BJP President confirmed that no changes will be made, as far as the CM's post is concerned.

On his official Twitter handle, the BJP supremo wrote, "After speaking with the core committee of Goa team, I can confirm that Manohar Parrikar will continue as the CM of the state. There will be changes made in the state cabinet soon."

The announcement comes less than a week after the Goa Congress had submitted a letter to the state's Governor staking claim to form the government. The party had given a letter to the personal secretary of the Governor at the Raj Bhavan, due to the unavailability of the Governor.

Sources from within the Congress party had also stated that the MLAs of other parties are in their support, and they are waiting for the Governor to give them an opportunity to form the government.

Soon after the letter was submitted, Goa BJP had accused Congress of trying to 'fool the people of Goa'. Speaking to media, Goa BJP chief Vinay Tendulkar said, "How can they form govt with 14-15 people? They require another 6 MLAs which they don't have. Congress is fooling the people of Goa. All ministers are capable to handle their own department. There is no problem."

Congress, who were the single largest party with 17 seats after the 2017 elections in the state, were usurped by BJP (13 seats), who managed to form the government after getting into an alliance with the support from MGP, Goa Front party, NCP and Independents.
